The two boroughs have been united since 1965 and together form the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Two long high streets, the King’s Road and the Fulham Road run parallel to the river and host a number of boutiques and fine restaurants.

The area is also home to a diverse and flourishing arts scene, which includes numerous galleries, theatres, museums and festivals. Although the smallest borough in London, Kensington and Chelsea is one of the most vibrant and there are 12 tube stations, on six of the 12 London Underground lines.
